Dubai targets Luxperience market

first_imgDubai Tourism’s Julie King [left] exhibiting at Luxperience 2012 Source = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J Showcasing the various tourism experiences in Dubai is still top of the list for the region’s tourism bureau in Australia, according to the Group’s director Julie King.Speaking to e-Travel Blackboard at the inaugural Luxperience showcase in Sydney, Ms King said showcasing the brand and its products has been high on the plate “for some time” and the new three-day exhibition had given the tourism bureau a new platform to showcase the destination to a global and local audience.“We target different consumer segments and promote different experiences to those segments,” Ms King said. “If it’s adventure tourism we promote our balloon rides and Four by Four Wheel Driving in the dessert.”Dubai Tourism’s director added that as part of its promotions, the tourism bureau had worked on “suggested itineraries” for various segments. “What we’re doing is giving people at Luxperience those itineraries to position Dubai to these segments,” she explained.“It’s given us an opportunity to talk about what we’ve done… it is getting out there slowly but there’s still lots to go.”In a positive move for tourism to Dubai, earlier this month Qantas announced a new partnership agreement with UAE carrier, Emirates.Launching in 2013, Ms King said expects the arrangement between the two airlines to play a “positive” role for Dubai.“We see potential and a substantial increase in tourism to Dubai in the coming year with the new partnership.” last_img
