‘I Did not Kill a Fly’

first_imgGeorge Kailondo, the man who reportedly extended an invite to fallen GT Bank Manager, Dan Orogun, for a cruise on his luxury boat near his home on the Robertsfield Highway, has finally broken silence about what might have actually happened. Mr. Kailondo, in a press conference on Friday, February 12, held at his business center in Monrovia, denied allegations by Orogun’s family that he is responsible for his death, saying he was also bereaved by his death.“I did not kill a fly, even when I was down, and can’t do such now in the name of getting rich because income has increased. I have been silent because of the death of a friend and brother. We were together almost all the time and shared things in common, especially during the weekend,” Mr. Kailondo said.He said he was surprised by the false allegations made by the family, stating that, “Mr. Orogun’s presence at my place was based on the invitation sent to him through a telephone call; Mr. Orogun called me to have a boat ride with him; I did not invite him.” He maintained that the invitation for the boat ride with the former GT bank manager was not the first time. He said two of them previously met on October 24, 2015.“If we were not at my hotel, we would have been at another Nigerian guy’s hotel around the King’s FM building,” Mr. Kailondo said. Mr. Orogun was more than a friend to me; I considered him as my brother.” Mr. Orogun’s suspicious drowning came to light when his remains were discovered on January 24 in a river near Kailondo’s home.Fingers have since been pointed at Mr. Kailondo, who was reported to be with Orogun on the ride.People’s suspicion of Kailondo’s involvement in Mr. Orogun’s death intensified when the spokesman of the Orogun family, Mr. Felix Orogun, said the blood of their deceased brother is on the head of Mr. Kailondo.Mr. Kailondo, in reaction to the report of his involvement at a press conference in Monrovia over the weekend, broke silence, noting that he has no hand in the death of someone he considers “a friend and brother.”Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
