Authorities stop stolen box truck containing several caskets

first_imgFlorida highway patrol officials are reporting that they have recovered a stolen box truck that had several caskets inside.The incident occurred Monday on Interstate 295 in Jacksonville, Florida.According to the report, a casket company notified authorities that a Ryder box truck containing several items had been stolen from their facility Thursday. On Monday officials with FHP  located that vehicle driving along Interstate 295. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver continued to drive at a slow-pace. Eventually the driver, identified as David Ayers, pulled over near the Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway where he was arrested.When authorities opened the back of the truck, they found three empty caskets, what appeared to be a payment system for a car wash vacuum, and several other items.Authorities believe that once Ayers stole the truck from the casket company Thursday, he then continued to burglarize different locations in Jacksonville until he was arrested Monday.Ayers has been charged with auto theft, fleeing and attempting to elude, driving without a license among other charges.last_img
