Joyce rewrites Ireland record books

first_img Press Association Ed Joyce made a rapid double century as Ireland dominated the first day of their ICC InterContinental Cup clash with the United Arab Emirates at Malahide. On head coach John Bracewell’s first match day in charge of the Ireland team, Joyce’s 229 not out from 223 balls spurred Ireland to 420 for three at the close, and entered the record books as the highest score by an Ireland player. Joyce’s innings contained 29 fours and three sixes, and was complemented by 146 from opener Paul Stirling, as the pair shared in a second-wicket stand of 231 runs. last_img
